We’ve been waiting to share this moment with you, and it’s finally here – Chess Club is officially out now on PlayStation VR2! 🎉
As developers, there’s something truly special about bringing a game you love to a whole new platform, and for us at Odders Lab, this launch has been a labor of passion. Ever since Chess Club first debuted in 2021, our mission has been to create the best way to play chess in VR, an experience that feels immersive, elegant, and accessible to everyone. Seeing it now available to the PlayStation community, just in time for World Chess Day, is a dream come true.
And what a journey it’s been. Earlier this summer, we had the chance to showcase the PSVR2 trailer, along with the release date, at the Upload VR Showcase. The response from the VR community was incredible!
Here is the release trailer for Chess Club, now available for PSVR2!
What’s New for PSVR2 Players?
We worked hard to ensure that the PSVR2 version feels amazing, preserving everything players already love about Chess Club while optimizing it for this new hardware. Whether you’re a casual player or a hardcore strategist, you’ll find everything you need to immerse yourself in the game:
♘ Play solo or challenge a friend – with multiple AI difficulty levels and ranked multiplayer.
⛰️ Four stunning VR environments – Grand Palace, Stonehenge, Escher Dream, and Masters Garden.
🙂 Casual and ranked games – with rematches, time rules, and move history tracking.
♟️ Choose your style – from a classic chess set to a fantasy-themed board with animated pieces.
And the best part? It’s available now on the PlayStation Store for just $9.99.
Why This Matters to Us
For us at Odders Lab, bringing Chess Club to PSVR2 isn’t just a port , it’s another step in growing our incredible community of VR strategists. Every time we see players from around the world challenging each other, sharpening their skills, and enjoying the simple (yet endlessly deep) beauty of chess, we’re reminded of how timeless this game truly is.
So, whether you’re celebrating World Chess Day by making your first move or competing for the top of the ELO ladder, we can’t wait to see you in-game. Let’s make this World Chess Day one to remember.
