Gamescom 2025 has come to a close after an unforgettable week that once again turned Cologne into the beating heart of the gaming world. From August 20 to 24, more than 1,500 exhibitors from 60 countries showcased the future of interactive entertainment, filling the halls with blockbuster reveals, groundbreaking hardware, and bold indie projects.

The lineup was nothing short of spectacular: from the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong finally receiving a release date, to headline-grabbing premieres like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Resident Evil Requiem, and World of Warcraft: Midnight. Yet it was Marvel’s Deadpool VR that stole the spotlight, cementing VR’s growing momentum on the global stage.

This edition was once again a chance to join the conversation shaping the industry’s future. Through our participation in Devcom, we had the privilege of contributing to discussions on social VR, user-generated content, and immersive experiences—bringing our perspective to one of the most dynamic gatherings the industry has to offer. And with Gamescom 2025 now behind us, we’re already looking forward to what next year’s edition will bring.

DEVCOM

On August 18, our CSO, Jaime, took the stage at Devcom, joining the workshop “Discover ‘Meta Horizon Worlds’: Building Social Mobile & VR Games and Why UGC Games Attract More Players”, hosted by Meta. Alongside Meta’s advocate developers Jake Steinerman and Deepak Nair, Jaime brought Odders’ unique vision on social VR, immersive experiences, and user-generated content.

The session dove deep into data-driven strategies for engaging design, explored Horizon Worlds’ powerful tools like generative AI and TypeScript support, and equipped creators to build compelling content across web, mobile, and VR.

DEADPOOL VR

The standout VR moment at Gamescom 2025 was undeniably Marvel’s Deadpool VR by Twisted Pixel Games and Meta. Showcased early, the Opening Night Live revealed a brand-new story trailer and official release date: November 18, launching exclusively on Meta Quest 3 and 3S.

The demo delivered frenetic, over-the-top combat—katana slices, shootouts, grappling-hook antics, and “Mojo-ified” weapons—with cel-shaded visuals capturing Deadpool’s irreverent humor. It delivered one of the most polished, technically impressive VR experiences yet and quickly emerged as the top VR release previewed at the show.

HIGHLIGHTS

This year’s Gamescom 2025 once again proved why it’s one of the most important meeting points for the gaming industry. The event struck the perfect balance between blockbuster premieres and indie creativity, with titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and the long-awaited Silksong sharing the spotlight with standout independent projects. On the XR front, the launch of Deadpool VR confirmed that virtual reality is entering a new era, capturing both media attention and player excitement.

Across panels and conversations, one message was clear: the industry is moving fast, and success will come to those who can adapt with agility, engage players directly, and combine lean innovation with compelling design. For Odders, it was a privilege to be part of this year’s edition, and we’re already looking forward to Gamescom 2026.
